A Coffee Shop in New Orleans
Worth Going Out of Your Way For
New Orleans has no shortage of places to get coffee. What it has less of is a place that feels like it was built for the city rather than dropped into it. Witches Brew Coffee Co. is a witchy-themed specialty café on Canal St in Mid-City — and we think there are a few good reasons to make it your spot.
Why Witches Brew
Specialty coffee, not chain coffee
Every espresso drink is pulled with intention. Seasonal blends rotate. Cold brew is made in-house. We take the craft seriously without making it precious.
Draft matcha you won't find elsewhere
Ceremonial grade matcha sourced from Mizuba Tea Co., served on tap. Smooth, clean, no bitterness. One of the best matcha drinks in New Orleans, full stop.
A tea menu worth sitting down for
Complex, botanically driven blends from Wild Coast Brew — herbal, fireweed, black, green, and yaupon. Not an afterthought. A full menu in its own right.
Baked in-house, daily
Everything in the pastry case was made this morning. Almond croissants, seasonal baked goods, nothing sitting in a bag from a distributor.
An outdoor patio worth lingering on
Covered, shaded, and one of the better-kept secrets on Canal St. Bring a book. Stay longer than you planned.
A vibe that fits New Orleans
Dark, moody, a little occult-adjacent. We didn't import an aesthetic from somewhere else. This is a New Orleans coffee shop that looks and feels like New Orleans.
The French Quarter has coffee. The airport has coffee. The chains have coffee. But if you want a specialty coffee shop in New Orleans with a distinct identity, a real tea program, matcha on draft, and pastries made from scratch — you're looking for something more specific than a cup to go.
We're in Mid-City, ten minutes from the Quarter, with street parking on Canal St. Worth the slight detour.
The Neighborhood
Mid-City is one of the most residential and local-feeling neighborhoods in New Orleans — less tourist traffic, more actual New Orleanians. Canal St is the main artery running through it, and 2940 is right in the thick of things: close to City Park, the cemeteries, and the neighborhoods that make up the real fabric of the city.
If you're staying Uptown or in the Garden District, we're an easy ride. If you're based in Mid-City, you probably already walk past us.
